"I am tempted to give one more instance showing how plants and animals, remote in the scale of nature, are bound together by a web of complex relations"
Charles Darwin, 1859
ABOUT ME
A life enthusiast having fun doing ScienceI am Oi, from Brazil!
I am a biologist with broad interests in ecology, evolution, and biodiversity conservation. My research focuses on the complexity of animal–plant interactions—their ecological and evolutionary underpinnings—and how these interactions respond to human-driven environmental changes. With over 18 years of experience in many ecosystems around the world, I integrate network ecology, evolutionary thinking, natural history, local knowledge, ecological theory, and advanced statistical tools to understand how biodiversity is adapting to the challenges of the Anthropocene. I am particularly committed to exploring ways to reconcile nature and humanity for the benefit of all. Currently looking for new challenges and job opportunities to apply my expertise in pursuit of transformative solutions for the biodiversity and climate change crisis. I am associated to the Center for Research on Biodiversity Dynamics and Climate Change (CBioClima) and the Juruá Institute, where I study socio-ecological networks and the sustainability of the use of natural resources in tropical forests. I also serve on the Editorial Board of Web Ecology, an open-access journal free to read and publish. Beyond research, I enjoy an active lifestyle, dedicating time to surfing, gardening, meditating and cultivating my own food whenever possible.
